The New Zealand Film Academy offers aspiring film makers the opportunity to get practical industry training from industry professionals. Our 6 and 18 week courses take place in Auckland - a world renowned location for filmmaking.
We pride ourselves on the practical approach NZFA takes to its courses and try to run the academy as closely as we can to a production house, while staying within NZ Qualifications Authority framework. We want you to learn by doing - rather than just sitting in a class room.
When choosing applicants we pay attention to their enthusiasm for film, ability to commit to their crew and projects while the ‘can-do’ attitude is a must.
Successful applicants become team members with crews that script, shoot and produce interesting and creative short films, under the guidance of tutors who have their own accomplished and ongoing careers within the film industry.
